IMAN is a Muslim-led, grassroots organization based in one of Chicago’s most destitute and forgotten areas--the South Side neighborhood of Englewood. They are dedicated to working with the entire local community, across lines of faith, color, and class, to address social justice concerns and immediate emotional and physical welfare needs.

IMAN has worked to combat food deserts, rehabilitate homes in the community, provide access to healthcare, and create spaces of creative expression and community organizing. They frequently utilize Hip Hop in their outreach and have worked with numerous local artists and national performers in their Community Cafes and their bi-annual Taking it to the Streets festival in Chicago Lawn. They regularly advocate issues on behalf of their constituent neighborhoods with other community groups, small and large, to achieve positive change.
